What if instead you insisted that the dog attend an obedience school. If your son balks at that, then the dog's gotta go... maybe you can have the dog euthanized in your home so you can have the joy that comes from seeing him put down.

Am I being unreasonable in this ?
by smiddy3 inhi friend`s ,i have my son and dil living with us ,which has been ok,overall ,quite a few years now ,however ,a few months ago they decided they wanted a dog ok ?
we had one a toy poodle for about 16-17 years and i just loved her as did my wife.. a few months ago my son wanted a dog and got a french bulldog as a pup ,which was ok by us .. however to cut a long story short, yesterday i was out in the back yard and the dog lunged at me and started attacking me in such a way as i can only describe as being frenetic in his attack ,in trying to ward off his attack and getting away from him i fell over and i believe if my son hadn`t finlly restrained him he would have mauled me .
i am 83 years old and my wife has just turned 80. and i dont want that to happen to her .. i don`t know the dog is what 4-5-6 months old i`m not sure , and been living with us all this time ,however i`m going to tell them to get that dog out of my house by the week and and a half or i will one way or another .. i am not going to tolerate that in my household and if he don`t like it he can go also .. i`m not being unreasonable am i ?

In Norway there is an XJW who has a Youtube channel called "Goatlike Personality". I urge everyone to visit his channel and listen to his most recent posts on this very subject. He explains how "Tightpants" Tony Morris is misrepresenting (lying) about this so-called "persecution."
Hurray for Norway! May the rest of Europe follow their fine example!

Struggling to find a purpose
by My Name is of No Consequence ini spent most of my life in the org.
we were taught that our purpose in life was to serve jehovah.
that never really made sense to me, but it was still a purpose to keep going.

Think about a candle. It has a relatively short "life," yet we cannot say the candle has no purpose just because it is ultimately burned up and gone.
Our life is similar to the candle. We don't last too long, then we're gone. But like the candle, while we're here we can serve a purpose; we can bring light (wisdom) and heat (passion) into the world.
Many JWs I knew in my long-ago youth would have said the purpose in life was to "be happy." I still think that is right, and even more so when you take a dictatorial band of hypocritical theocrats out of the picture.
"God" does NOT need your money, you do. If your comfortable, find a cause you support and do what you can. If you are physically able, give some of your energy to a cause you believe in. Here are some you can consider: Doctors Without Borders, aid for wounded veterans, children's hospitals, animal rescue/welfare, legal justice, and religious charities. Even though I am not a Believer, I donate to religious charities because they are usually more effective at getting money to where it is needed, unlike many quasi-scam popular "charities." You can get information online about which charities are most efficient.
Let us know what you discover within yourself.

Yes, Jan, Christmas may be everywhere, but to the JW kid it is all WRONG and EVIL... in capital letters, too!

Anyone raised as a JW has a cultural deficit; they have no emotional attachment to Xmas, indeed, they may have emotional attachments to anti-Xmas memes.
Let me give you an example. Most of us on here do not have Asian heritage, correct?
What does the holiday Obon mean to you? Anything... anything at all?
Most who were raised as JWs don't have Obon, and they don't have Xmas.

Is the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses REALLY the "faithful and discreet slave" of Matt. 24:45-47?
by Roger Kirkpatrick inthesis: when someone who is given a responsibility mistakes that responsibility for authority, bullying is very likely to occur.. jesus spoke an illustration recorded at matthew 24: 45-51 which well illustrates this thesis.. jesus asked, “who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over all his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?
happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.
truly i say to you, he will appoint him over all his belongings.

Is There Life On Mars?
by LoveUniHateExams inno, i'm not talking about the david bowie song, i'm asking does life exist on mars?.
opportunity rover (the one before the present one) took photos of strange, puffball-like sphericals seemingly sprouting on the martian surface.. these photos aren't conclusive evidence but it is an exciting area to investigate.. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-9546225/scientists-claim-evidence-fungi-red-planet.html .

LoveUniHateExams, spherical objects can have inorganic origins. A metor crash can easily raise temperatures to the melting point of silica, and the molten blobs can harden into spheres if they spend enough time in the atmosphere. Until we collect some of those spheres and examine them, we cannot know how they formed.
Personally, I believe that as we extend our exploration of the solar system we will find that any planet or moon with liquid water we will find life. Even on Pluto, with its suspected water and obvious reddish-brown "tholins".
